CEO & Co-founder
Douglas Gan is a technology entrepreneur and angel investor for startups. Currently, Douglas is the CEO and co-founder of GBCI Ventures, a leading smart city solutions provider. GBCI uses artificial intelligence (AI) as the backbone and weaving together AI, robotics, virtual reality, big data and IoT to build smart cities all around Asia and connecting them to offer borderless urban services.
Douglas’ entrepreneurial journey started with Hosting Web Services in 1997 and continued to offer virtual hosting, dedicated hosting, email hosting, DNS hosting services, which eventually were sold to Skydio (Webvisions). Additionally, his other business ventures include an online youth forum called OhGenki.com, a Counter-Strike gaming server hosting company, a hardware trading business, a female online forum, a social media marketing agency, web and mobile agency and a social commerce platform.
In 2008, Douglas founded ShowNearby, a location-based mobile application that won multiple awards in Asia and became the top 3 apps in the world in 2010.
His achievement can be marked by winning the Young Professional of the Year by Singapore Computer Society in the Year 2011. In addition, his alma mater, Ngee Ann Polytechnic recognized him with an Outstanding Alumni Award, given to the Top 25 Alumni since the schools inception 50 years ago.
Between 1997 and 2018, Douglas sold six of his companies to multi-national corporations.
General Partner & Co-founder
Lee Changjin is a General Partner and co-founder of GBCI. Changjin is an ecosystem strategist, with a strong background in information technology and services. He has built ecosystem platforms for the various vertical industries, such as sports and fitness, food and beverage, real estate and fintech. His experience with e-commerce, big data, cloud, mobile apps and fintech solutions is instrumental to building smart cities in Asia.
At Konical Minolta, he was a service solution incubation leader and successfully created a holistic retail solutions ecosystem. He was also the co-founder of ShowNearby, a location-based mobile application that won multiple awards in Asia. ShowNearby was eventually acquired by YellowPages in 2010.
Coupled with his entrepreneurial spirit and venture capitalist background, Changjin has gained considerable knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship, communication, organizational development, leadership, business development and customer service.
Vanessa Koh is a Techpreneur and a start-up specialist, who partners with CSuite Executives to engineer the best customer–centric products and deliver multimillion-dollar revenues. Vanessa is the CTO of GBCI Ventures, a smart city venture capital.
As an avid fan of futuristic cities, she is also the Co-CTO of BCB Blockchain a Singapore-based blockchain technology company funded by GBCI.VC. With a passion in technology and experience with developing successful tech products, she is instrumental in spearheading the research & development department and the developer ecosystem in BCB Blockchain.
Vanessa has started 4 technology start-up companies in the areas of SAAS infrastructure, software and web applications development, Enterprise Resource Planning systems, Blockchain and smart contract technologies as well as 2 Fintech investment funds since 2010. She brings this of experience in a multitude of different technologies to GBCI, spearheading projects in Southeast Asia.
Driven and with a hands-on approach, Vanessa has recruited and worked with the brightest talents around Asia and enjoys applying game theories and gamification in her work.
Vanessa holds a Bachelor of Computer Science in Game Design from the University of Wollongong.
